Material Analysis of Cogged V Belt

The cogged V belt, due to its unique cogged design, offers greater flexibility and heat dissipation during transmission. This belt is primarily composed of three layers of material: outer rubber, tensile cord, and cogged bottom rubber.

The outer rubber is typically made of chloroprene rubber (CR) or ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), which provides excellent oil resistance, heat resistance, and aging resistance, ensuring stable operation in high-temperature or harsh environments. The tensile cord is made of polyester cords or aramid fibers, offering exceptional tensile strength to effectively prevent the belt from stretching or breaking. The cogged bottom rubber layer not only enhances flexibility but also improves the belt’s fit with the pulley, reducing slippage and increasing transmission efficiency.

This combination enables cogged V belts to perform excellently under high load and high-speed transmission conditions, making them widely used in automotive and industrial machinery applications.
